By Our Correspondent,Myagdi, Oct. 30: Panchkot in Banglung Municipality-6 is emerging as a prominent religious and tourist destination area after the construction of temples and tourism infrastructures.

Efforts to develop Panchkot as a religious tourist destination area began in 2015 with an initiation taken by Swami Kamalnayan Acharya also known as Muktinath Baba.

Meanwhile, during Dashain vacation this year, the number of tourists visiting Panchkot has increased significantly. Panchkot boasts of beautiful landscapes and scenic beauty.

The Panchkot Grand Development Committee informed that around 200 to 1,000 tourists visited the area daily during the festive season. Most of the visitors came from Pokhara, Chitwan, Kathmandu and even India.

Panchkot is becoming a prominent tourist destination area due to its temples and spectacular scenic beauty. On the other hand, other structures such as the world's tallest World Peace Kalash, the Muktinath Mahaghanta weighing 5,555 kilograms are currently under construction in Panchkot.

The Kalash which is going to be constructed from coming February after performing Mahayagya is expected to cost approximately Rs. 1 billion. Simultaneously, 8-km road from Baglung market to Panchkot has also been blacktopped.

Rudra Bahadur KC, ward chair of Baglung Municipality-6 and vice chair of the Panchkot Grand Development Committee informed that eight years ago they had prepared a master plan to develop Panchkot as a tourist destination area. He said, “Rs. 700 million is already invested in the plan. We are preparing to develop Panchkot as a major religious destination for Hindu pilgrims. We are expecting to invest Rs. 4 billion for the project."

He said that they had already constructed Gandaki Mata Temple, a statue of Hanuman, Mirror Palace, Hanuman garden and small temples and currently they are focusing on constructing bigger structures. The construction work in the area spread over more than 200 ropanis is being carried out under Akhanda Jyaotibaba Swami Shriji Charitable Trust.
