Argha Bhagawati temple receives more tourists

Arghakhanchi, Oct. 28: The Argha Bhagawati temple, one of the key religious and touristic destinations in Arghakhanchi district has received more religious tourists in this year’s Dashain festival.

The temple has Asia’s largest idol of goddess Bhagawati. The 21ft tall idol of goddess Bhagawati is one of the attractions for the visitors there.  

The visitors coming to Lumbini and Supa Deurali are lured to visit Argha Bhagawati temple, it is said. 

Priest of the temple, Keshav Raj Acharya, said that religious scriptures including Devi Bhagawati, Veda and Durga Shaptashati are being recited in the temple from Ghatasthapana and it would continue until Kojagrat Purnima.   

The local residents also perform Saraye Naach (dance) on Kojagrat Purnima.  

Chairman of the temple conservation committee Saroj Bhusal said that the locals have been worshipping in the temple since Lichchhavi dynasty.
