Worry over triple burden of bringing up triplets

blog

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel,Damak, Oct. 14: A mother from Gaurigunj Rural Municipality-4 of Jhapa gave birth to triplets at Biratnagar-based Noble Hospital on Sunday night.

Rabina Tajpuriya, wife of Sanjay Tajpuriya of the landless settlement of Bhawanipur, gave birth to triplets.

It is informed that Rabina was taken to Gaurigunj Hospital immediately after suffering from labour pains, from where she was referred to Amda Hospital in Damak.

Amda Hospital later referred her to Noble Hospital citing that her delivery was not possible in the hospital.

According to her husband, Rabina was seven months pregnant and gave premature birth to three babies through the cesarean section.

He said that the mother and babies are in normal health condition.

Pheka Prasad Giri, chairman of ward-4 in Gaurigunj Rural Municipality, said the Tajpuriya family has sought essential support from the ward office, citing issues arising in the realms of healthcare and childcare.

Giri said that the Tajpuriya family, hailing from an economically disadvantaged family residing in a slum, is facing challenges in raising their triplet babies.

The Tajpuriya couple already had two children at home, and the recent arrival of triplet children has added an additional financial burden to the family.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ward office forwarded a recommendation to the rural municipal council, urging them to make necessary arrangements for the upbringing of the children.

The rural municipal council would take necessary decisions regarding the issue, said the vice chair of Gaurigunj Rural Municipality, Pujan Neupane Kunwar.
