By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 21: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been adjourned pasting a notice on the notice board. It's been rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
The HoR meeting was deferred after efforts made by Speaker Devraj Ghimire failed to forge consensus between the parties of the ruling alliance and the opposition in a meeting held Sunday.
There were two meetings: one of chief whips and whips of the parliamentary parties called by the House Speaker Devraj Ghimire and another of top leaders called by the Prime Minister to discuss the obstruction in the Federal Parliament, today.
However, none of the meeting could reach an agreement on resuming the parliament smoothly.
CPN-UML maintained that a high-level committee should be formed to investigate the gold smuggling scam during the meeting and the government was also on the stand of not forming a high-level probe committee for the purpose.
CPN-UML has been obstructing the House session demanding the formation of the probe committee to investigate the gold smuggling scam immediately after the incident was published in media. The government is not in a mood to form it as it already has handed over the responsibility to the CIB.
