Govt annuls citizenships of two non-Nepalis

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 10:The government has cancelled the Nepali citizenships issued from different districts to non-Nepali individuals.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday decided to revoke the citizenship by descent issued in the name of Aman Chaudhary (Agrawal) from the District Administration Office, Parsa, on November 10, 2020 by presenting fake documents and information. 

The decision to this end was made public at a press conference organised at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Wednesday. Minister Sharma said that the person who had been issued the citizenship would no more a Nepali citizen and process to take legal action against people involved in the issuance of citizenship to Agrawal would begin.

Similarly, the Cabinet meeting cancelled another citizenship by descent issued in the name of Sophia Ruth Bhandari from Kaski by submitting false details and take the action against the officials involved in the process under the Section 14 (1).

The Cabinet meeting has also decided to accept 21 pieces of drones to be provided by Public Security Department of Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal.

The government has approved the visit of Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav to Kunming city of Yunnan province of China to take part in the 7th China-South Asia Exposition and the 27th China-Kunming Import and Export Fair from August 16 to 20, 2023.

The government has also approved the visit of Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma of Karnali Province to Switzerland to take part in Cooperation in 

Financing, Social and Humanitarian, PPP and Green Programmes to be held from September 1 to 2 and Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya to Sweden to take part in the programme Engaging Indigenous People in Election to be held from September 5 to 6. 

The government has also given approval to Bandana Rana for applying as permanent member of CEDAW as her re-application for the period of 2025-2028.
