Power to lower bodies stressed in NC meet

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 20: The meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee continued for the second consecutive day at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, on Wednesday.

Altogether,  46 CWC members spoke in the meeting today.  

CWC members Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel, Keshab Kumar Budhathoki, Devendra Raj Kandel, Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang, Narayan Bahadur Karki, Man Bahadur Nepali, Nain Singh Mahar, Govinda Bahadur Shah, Dr. Rana Bahadur Rawal, Dil Man Pakharin, Ram Hari Khatiwada and Saraswoti Aryal Tiwari aired their views today.  

NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel in a statement informed that CWC members Guru Baral, Kundan Raj Kafle, Jabeda Khatun Jafa, Hari Sharan Nepali, Janaki Singh, Sushila Bhatta Mishra, Nagina Yadav, Nanu Bastola, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Nrup Bahadur Bad, Kantika Saijuwal, Shshila Thing, Sita Kumari Rana, Sushila Dhakal (Acharya) Ganesh Lal, Rupa BK, Bidhya Devi Timilsina, Santi Pariyar PK, Jiban Rana, Radha Ghale, Rukmani Koirala, Urmila Thapaliya, Kalyani Rijal, Goma Kumari Bhattarai, Laxmi Khatiwada, Ganga Shahi and Sita Devi Devkota also expressed their views. 

Invitee Provincial chairmen Krishna Prasad Yadav (Madhes), Indra Bahadur Baniya (Bagmati), Sukra Raj Sharma (Gandaki), Amar Singh Pun (Lumbini), Lalit Jung Shahi (Karnali) and Bir Bahadur Balayar (Sudurpachhim) also expressed their views.  

In the meeting, Provincial Committee chairs expressed their frustration over the party's policy of not giving authority to lower committees and ignoring the spirit of federalism. 

Central member Keshab Kumar Budhathoki questioned the government formation in Koshi Province. 

Most speakers today criticised party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma. 

However, Ram Hari Khatiwada thanked party leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala for his balanced politics in the party. 

The meeting was chaired by NC President Deuba. 

The next meeting of the NC CWC is scheduled for Thursday. 

The meeting started on Tuesday after a gap of a year.
