By Our Correspondent,Baitadi, July 17: Jeet Bahadur Bista, 52, of Sunarya Rural Municipality in Baitadi, has been forced into bed for the past one year due to a lack of money for his treatment.
A resident of Ward No. 2 of Sunarya, Bista's right leg had broken while he was working in India as a labourer some years back; he also had injuries on his back. He had returned home after inserting an iron rod to support the broken leg.
However, the support seems to have stopped working now due to which Bista has been bedridden for the past one year. The skin on his right leg, which has turned skinny, can be seen falling apart.
Bista was bereaved of his wife before his leg sustained the injury. He had gone to India with the aim to support his only son.
"My son is not completely fit mentally. It is my old mother who brings some food to my bed. This poverty has left me in distress but I have not lost my motivation to stand and work again if I could afford a treatment," said Bista.
According to Ganesh Bista, brother of Jeet Bahadur, they had also asked the rural municipality for support. "The local level says that it does not have a budget. The officials rather suggest bringing a recommendation from health personnel so that they could make a disabled card for allowance," said Ganesh. "It seems that a poor man can do nothing more. However, I would be happy if I get some support from some generous hearts," Jeet Bahadur pleaded from his bed.
