By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 14: Tribhuvan Army Club’s unbeaten run in the 7th PM Cup NVA National Club League came to an end by Nepal Police Club at NSC Covered Hall, Kathmandu on Thursday.
Army was leading the men’s league table with four consecutive wins. But the Police stunned Army today with a 3-0 straight-set victory. Police came through 25-21, 28-26 and 25-14 to collect 12 points from five matches. Police moved up to the second position while Army with 11 points are in third place.
Tiptop Help Nepal continued its unbeaten run in the league with a thrilling win over APF Club. Help Nepal defeated APF 3-2 to collect two points and stay at the top of the league standings with 13 points.
Help Nepal took the first two sets 27-25 and 25-17. APF fought back to claim the third and fourth set 25-21, 25-23 and took the match into the fifth set. Help Nepal overturned the APF’s match point lead of 14-11 to win the decider by 16-14 score.
After stealing one point from leader Help Nepal, APF trailed behind Army in the fourth position with 11 points. Despite having equal points, Army topped APF in point ratio.
Likewise, Gandaki Province Volleyball Club recorded their first win in the league following a 3-2 win over Sailung Bagdhunga. Gandaki won the first two sets by 25-16 and 25-13 score. Sailung tied the score by clinching the third and fourth set by 25-19 and 25-20. Gandaki, however, dominated the deciding fifth set with a 15-6 win.
After suffering four successive defeats Gandaki are already out of the title contention. Gandaki occupy the fifth position while Sailung trail in the sixth position.
In the women’s category, Army overpowered Everest Volleyball Club by 25-12, 25-19 and 25-19.
APF also defeated New Diamond 25-19, 25-18, 25-12 in a straight set.
Police led the women’s league table with 12 points and had already reached the final.
APF follow in second place with 11 points. New Diamond is in third place with eight points while Army occupy fourth place with five points.
