By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 13: Tiptop Help Nepal Club and Tribhuvan Army Club registered four wins in a row to strengthen their final hopes at the 7th PM Cup NVA National Volleyball Club League.
Both Help Nepal and Army earned equal 11 points following their hard-fought win in the men’s league at NSC Covered Hall on Wednesday. Army, however, maintained the pole position on the league standings overcoming Help Nepal on the basis of a set score. Army have 1.24 per cent points while Help Nepal have 1.18 per cent points.
Help Nepal defeated Nepal Police 3-2 in a see-saw battle. League leader Help Nepal took the first set 25-20 but Police bounced back winning the second set with an identical score.
Help Nepal clinched the third set 30-28 to restore the lead.
Police were not giving up easily as they again tied the score by claiming the fourth set 25-18. Help Nepal clinched the deciding fifth set 24-22 to win the match. Help Nepal secured two successive points when the score was tied to 22-22.
Title favourite Army also struggled to beat APF Club 3-2 in a thrilling five-setter match. Army lost the first set 18-25 but came back in the second set with a 26-13 score. APF regained the lead by securing the third set 26-24. Army held their nerves to defy APF's attack and took the remaining two sets 28-26 and 17-15.
In the other match of the men’s category, Sailung Baghdungha Sports Club overcame Danwali Milan Club 25-19, 14-25, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-13 to open the account in the league.
APF Club is in third place with 10 points whereas Police sit in the fourth position with nine points.
Likewise in the women’s category, the Police booked a place in the final following their fourth consecutive victory. Police thumped APF in a straight set 25-16, 25-15 and 26-24 and topped the women’s league table with 12 points. New Diamond follows the Police in the second position with eight points while APF also has eight points and remains in third place.
