By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 5: The 11th edition of Nepal-Africa Film Festival-2023 is set to take place from July 8 to July 10 at Rastriya Naach Ghar, Jamal, Kathmandu.
Organised by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC), in collaboration with the Film Development Board and Bilakshan Creation, the festival aims to connect two continents through cinema while celebrating the diverse cultures of Nepal and Africa.
According to Manju Mishra, Principle of CJMC and festival director, the festival's mission is to promote a deeper understanding of Africa by presenting it through an authentic African lens.
This year, the festival will showcase 10 African films and documentaries from 11 different countries, along with 12 films and documentaries from Nepal.
The event will also feature a display of African products, informed the organisers.
Another festival director, Dabbu Kshetri, said that the selected films from Nepal include four feature films, two documentaries, three short films and three student films.
The festival will culminate in an award ceremony scheduled on Monday, July 10.
Additionally, there will be a one-day acting workshop at Rastriya Naach Ghar on Sunday.
The workshop, led by artist Birendra Hamal, will focus on 'Body Language, Facial Expression, and Mime Act.'
Furthermore, on July 9, Festival Coordinator and Project Manager Chiranjibi Guragain will lead an interactive session on the topic of 'National and International Market of Nepali Short Films’.
