Attraction of women towards tailoring increasing in Bajura

Even the women of other ethnic groups of Bajura, who used to say that only Damai, Nepali and Aauji caste sew clothes, have recently changed their thoughts and started sewing clothes in various places.

Recently, many women of Bajura have become interested in sewing because it is very easy for women and also helps make profit from this occupation.

Women of all nine local levels of Bajura have been demanding training to run tailoring business.

In this way, after the women have been showing interest in sewing, the local levels of the district have also been arranging sewing training for them.

The local bodies have been giving special priority to the single, disabled, helpless, poor and women from different families in the training related to sewing.

The Himali, Swamikartik, Jagannath, Budhinanda, Badimalika, Gaumul, Budhiganga, Triveni and Khapatad Chhededaha municipalities of Bajura have been conducting various trainings, including tailoring, in order to improve the economy of single, disabled and other women.

Triveni Rural Municipality has given tailoring training to more than 100 women in the current fiscal year.

In the training, the participation of other women was higher than that of Dalit community.

According to Triveni Municipality, the municipality has also arranged three-month training in tailoring for women as the women have been wishing to make it easy to earn a living by sewing.

Deputy Mayor of Triveni Municipality Kamala Neupane said that as tailoring business is very profitable and easy for women, they are showing high interest in it, so they are providing sewing and cutting training according to their wishes.

She said, in the last fiscal year, tailoring training was conducted for women in all the nine wards of Triveni. About 20 women from each ward participated in the training, she said More than 1,800 women of Triveni Municipality have participated in tailoring training. Most of them have started tailoring business in various markets after training.

Neupane said that some women are taking training.

Sarita Saud of Triveni Municipality-4 said that she has started a small tailoring business in the village after receiving three months of tailoring training.

"Economic status of the family is very weak. It has not been possible to invest in it. If the local government gives a subsidy, I will expand this business further," she said.

Mayor of Triveni Municipality Karna Bahadur Thapa said that local levels had conducted skill training targeting women with the aim of teaching them various skills so that they can earn a living by doing business in the village.

He said that in the next few years, various programmes will be conducted to provide employment to women who have learned skills in this way.
