Employees carry refrigerator to health centre

By Our Correspondent,Humla, June 21: Health personnel of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla district carried a refrigerator to the community hospital at Yangchu, the rural municipality's centre, on Tuesday.

According to the officials, more than eight health personnel carried the refrigerator as no transportation service was available even though a road was built.

"An ice-lined refrigerator was essential for the hospital. 

A road reaches the hospital but there is a lack of a bridge over the Karnali River in the Dozam area," said Baliraj Shahi, chief of Kharpunath's Health Section.

The refrigerator was brought to Simkot by air route.  It was then brought to Kharpu via road transport. 

However, the lack of road transport to Yangchu led the officials to carry the equipment.

While the rural municipality could have also hired porters, they decided not to waste the money and the employees themselves worked like porters.
