By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, June 20; In a bid to ensure prompt medical assistance for individuals facing critical health conditions, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has announced the launch of a 24-hour free emergency ambulance service.
This initiative aims to transport patients to hospitals without any charge. Mayor Prashant Bista revealed that the free ambulance service would commence on August 17, benefiting underprivileged individuals, the disabled, senior citizens requiring emergency care, as well as women in need of maternity services.
The service will facilitate the transportation of patients from their homes to the hospital, he informed.
In order to enhance accessibility to hospitals, preparations have begun to establish a free ambulance service catering to all types of patients.
The primary objective behind implementing this service within the city is to eliminate any difficulties faced by patients while reaching medical facilities.
Mayor Bista expressed his belief that the local government stands by its citizens during both their joys and sorrows.
"Ambulances will remain on standby position at the sub-metropolitan city office round the clock, and they will promptly transport patients to hospitals upon receiving information," stated Mayor Bista.
At present, Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City operates 20 ambulances. Among them, one ambulance will be stationed at the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan office 24/7 to cater to emergency situations.
Additionally, other ambulances will provide free services based on the needs of the residents.
To ensure the effective functioning of the free ambulance service, discussions have been held with ambulance operators and drivers as well.
The discussion was attended by Chief Administrative Officer Shiv Prasad Rijal, Head of Health Division Ram Bahadur Chand, Public Health Officer of Banke Health Office Naresh Babu Shrestha, Public Health Officer of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis Roshni Pun, as well as ambulance operators and drivers.
Rajan Kumar Shahi, a public health inspector of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan, informed that the meeting concluded with a decision to coordinate and regulate ambulance services within the sub-metropolitan city, aligning them with the minimum standards set by the Nepal government.
The meeting emphasised the importance of making all necessary preparations well in advance of August 17 to ensure the successful implementation of the free ambulance service.
