Dharan to begin e-rickshaw registration

blog

By Nisha Rai,Dharan, June 20: Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City is going to start the registration process for the three-wheeler e-rickshaws (city safari) on Tuesday.

From now onwards, disorganised e-rickshaws can only be operated after registering them through e-rickshaw driving procedures.

After the provincial government allowed the cities to organise e-rickshaw management by themselves, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City prepared the rules to begin the registration process from Tuesday.

A meeting of Mayor Harkaraj Rai, Deputy Mayor Aindra Bikram Begha, e-rickshaw operators and related stakeholders, decided the begin the registration process from Tuesday.

With the registration of E-rickshaws, which are responsible for traffic problems in Dharan, it is expected that the management of traffic will be eased. In addition, plate numbers will be provided to the e-rickshaws to ensure systematic transportation, which will facilitate traffic management in the city.

Since e-rickshaws are required to have a license to drive, Mayor Rai said that if there was a problem with the provisions in the procedure, then the executive meeting would amend them to address the demands of the e-rickshaw drivers.

As there is a provision that every e-rickshaw driver should have a license, the e-rickshaw drivers have demanded that the license should be issued from Dharan itself.

Mayor Rai assured that the license would be issued from Dharan and for that, he was ready to make amendments to the procedure.

He also said that he was also demanding the establishment of a license office in Dharan and he would continue to make efforts for that.

Deputy Mayor Aindra Bikram Begha said that the procedures related to e-rickshaws have been published in the gazette stating that they should be allowed to operate only in certain places of the city.
