Thematic body chiefs take oath

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Dhanusha, June 19: Newly elected presidents of five of the seven thematic committees of Madhes Provincial Assembly took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. 

Speaker of Madhes Provincial Assembly Ram Chandra Mandal administered the oath of office and secrecy to them at a ceremony organised at the Madhes Province Assembly Secretariat on Sunday. 

Speaker Mandal informed that the presidents elected by forging consensus among the political parties would ease the functioning of the provincial assembly in the coming days. He said that development works would take a pace as the committee would monitor the works of the government and provide needed suggestions. 

Among the five thematic committees, Janata Samajwadi Party's Sarada Shankar Prasad Kalwar has been elected as president of the Development Committee, Janamat Party's Satish Kumar Singh  as president of the Finance and Planning Committee, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Sarada Das as president of the Natural Resource and Environment Committee, CPN-UML's Manju Kumari Thapa Mahar as president of the Public Account Committee and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party's Rupa Kumari Yadav as president of the Children and Social Justice Committee. 

Ranjit Yadav, secretary of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, informed that all the presidents were elected unopposed.

The parties have agreed to give the leadership of the Land Management Committee and Provincial Affairs Committees to the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Unified Socialist).

The Provincial Assembly Secretariat informed that both the committees would be finalised after the parties give the names of the leaders of the two committees.
