Ear camp benefits Rukum West locals

By Our Correspondent,Musikot, June 19: A free health camp for ear-related illnesses organised in Ward No. 1 of Musikot Municipality in Rukum West district benefitted many.

The camp was organised for six days by the district branch of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh. According to the organisers, surgery was performed on 53 individuals for ruptured eardrums.

The camp for ear-related illnesses was performed in the district for free over a gap of 17 years.

"Before conducting the surgery camp, we had organised basic health camps to identify the affected individuals across the district. The ones who required further treatment were referred to the surgery camp," said Dhan Bahadur KC, in charge at the Salle-based Eye Treatment Centre.

KC informed that a total of 141 individuals were referred from the basic health camps. Of them, surgery was performed on 53 while the remaining 89 have been referred further to Nepalgunj.

A team of 17 health personnel including ENT specialists Dr. Rabi Swar and Dr. Shiva Regmi were deployed in the camp. The Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh was supported by the Integrated Eye and Ear Health Programme of the Karnali Province, Britain Nepal Community Ear Care Service, Siddhartha Hospital, Musikot Municipality and the district's Health Office.
