By Our Correspondent,Bhairahawa, June 6: As many as 74 leaders and cadres of the CPN-UML Siddharthanagar Municipal Committee, Rupandehi, have announced their resignation en-masse on Monday accusing the party of failing to implement necessary reforms.

The decision was made public during a press conference held by a group of UML leaders and cadres led by Municipal Committee Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhandari.

Those who resigned include members of the municipal committee, All Nepal Women's Association, National Youth Association Nepal, as well as the treasurer and members of the Free Student Union.

Speaking at the press meet, Bhandari revealed that a month ago, the leaders and cadres at the municipal level had submitted a 10-point demand to the party leadership, calling for comprehensive reforms and organisational improvements.

The memorandum presented by 51 leaders and activists outlined the need for the party to prioritise the welfare and progress of the workers and the general public while discouraging favouritism, nepotism, groupism, and corruption.

Expressing disappointment, Bhandari criticised the party for its failure to address the aspirations of the people in the 21st century, and its disregard for the sentiments of its cadres, particularly the youth and individuals with a popular or historical background.

Furthermore, Bhandari accused the party's senior leaders of promoting corruption and injustice within the organisation.

The party leadership had not adequately addressed the demands put forward by the party members, he added.
