blog

By Our Correspondent,Urlabari, May 6: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai said that the government was preparing to open new universities by formulating necessary laws. Minister Rai remarked this while speaking at a programme at Gothgaun-based Purbanchal University (PU) in Morang on Friday.

He had reached the university to lay a foundation stone for the construction of an auditorium hall and a bank building being built with the support of Nabil Bank. "Now, there will be provisions restricting politics in universities. We are formulating laws and policies by discussing with academics and professors," said Minister Rai.

Citing that a university or an academy cannot be run by the government alone, Minister Rai requested the locals to support the educational institution in their neighbourhoods.

"A university or an academy cannot get support from locals unless the officials perform for the betterment of the institution.

The government is there for necessary support, so the officials should work diligently," said Minister Rai.

Vice-chancellor of PU Yadav Raj Koirala chaired the programme in which National Assembly member Ramesh Jung Raymajhi, Sundarharaincha's Mayor Kedar Prasad Guragain and Nabil Bank's Chief Executive Officer Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana committed to providing continuous support to the university.
