30 Nepalis in Sudan come into contact of embassy

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 2: In addition to the officials working in the United Nations' peace mission, 30 Nepalis currently in Sudan have come in contact with the Embassy of Nepal in Cairo, Egypt. 

Issuing a press statement on Monday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) informed that 19 Nepalis had been rescued with assistance from the government of Saudi Arabia and had been brought to the Saudi city of Jeddah from Sudan's Port Sudan by boat. Prior to the rescue, one Nepali citizen had already arrived in Jeddah.

MoFA said that it was working to bring all the rescued Nepalis back to Nepal.

Of the remaining 11, five Nepali nations are on their way to Port Sudan while efforts were underway to bring one from Khartoum to the port. Three had already reached Port Sudan with help from their employing agencies and were staying at a hotel there and two more were being transported by their employers from Khartoum to safe locations near the Egyptian border.

The Ministry has asked all Nepalis in Sudan to contact the Nepali mission in Cairo on mobile or WhatsApp at +201097772348 and +201029606662 or email at eoncairo@mofa.gov.np in case of emergencies.
