By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 29: The House of Representatives on Friday formed its 10 thematic committees.
In the House meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire proposed names to be included in committees as members on the basis of the recommendations made by the political parties.
The meeting endorsed the proposals of the Speaker.
The 10 committees formed included the Economic Committee, International Relations and Tourism Committee, Industry, Commerce and Labour and Consumers Interest Committee, Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resource Committee, Women and Social Affairs Committee, State Affairs and Governance Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee, Education, Health and Information Technology Committee and Public Account Committee. It took five months after the election of the House of Representatives to form the committees because of differences between the ruling and opposition parties.
Only the Prime Minister, Ministers, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker and suspended lawmaker Tek Bahadur Gurung were not accommodated in the committees.
In the 25-member Economic Committee, former Finance Minister Gynendra Bahadur Karki, Swornim Wagle, Binod Chaudhary, Amar Bahadur Rayamajhi and Padam Giri among others are members.
The 27-member International Relation and Tourism Committee has CPN UML chair KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Unified Socialist) chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, NC leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala and others are members.
In the 26-member Industry and Commerce and Labour and Consumers Interest Committee Raghu Bir Masetha, Mohan Bahadur Basnet and others are members.
The 24-members Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee has Sher Bahadur Deuba, Subas Nembang, Jeeban Pariyar, Ramesh Lekhak, Dr. Shashanka Koirala and others as members.
In the 26-member Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resource Committee Dr. Arzu Rana, Anisha Nepali and others are included as members.
In the 22-member Women and Social Affairs Committee, Dhan Raj Gurung, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and others are members.
In the 25-member State Management and Governance Committee, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Rabi Lamichhane, Ajay Kumar Chourasiya, Chitra Bahadur KC, Raghuji Panta and others are members.
Likewise, the 27-member Infrastructure Development Committee has Dr. CK Raut, Gokarna Bista, Pradeep Paudel, Mahesh Basnet, Shankar Bhandari and others as members.
In the 26-member Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, Chhabilal Bishwokarma, Badri Prasad Pandey, Devendra Paudel, Toshima Karki and others are members. The 26-member Public Account Committee has Arjun Narasingh KC, Gokul Prasad Baskota, Janardan Sharma and others as members.
However, the joint committees were yet to be formed.
