By Our Correspondent,Janakpurdham, Apr. 26: Dhanusha police have arrested six persons on the charge of cheating Nepalis through online-based networking programme.
Organising a press conference on Monday, the District Police Office Dhanusha made them public.
Those arrested include Sanjeev Bhinawar Yadav, 40, of Bideha Municipality-1 of Dhanusha, Ranjit Nuniya, 25, of Kamala Municipality-3 of the same district, and Andesh Mahato, 33, of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolis-17. Similarly, the police have arrested Pappu Purbe, 33, of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolis-16, Ushman Safi, 48, of Janakpurdham-12, and Mohmmad Jilani Safi, 20, of Janakpurdham-12.
Chief of the District Police Office Bishwo Raj Khadka said that four of them were arrested from Janaknandani Rural Municpality-3 and two others from Janakpurdham-12 on April 21.
SP Khadka said that six Android mobile phones and one feature phone were seized from them, and a total of seven mobiles and Rs. 29,576 in cash were recovered and that further investigation revealed that they had cheated people through US-based online programme called TallwinLife, which in its website claims to be a technology of making money.
SP Khadka informed that they had directly or indirectly cheated Rs. 4.99 million from 1,091 people collecting Rs. 4,500 from each victim.
He said that it was revealed from the investigation that they lured the victims, saying that they could open their user
account in TallwinLife through internet browser and that they needed at least USD 30 dollars to do so. SP Khadka said that they cheated by saying that Nepali currencies can be converted into US dollars and loaded them into TallwinLife's account with the help of Binnen application.
Dhanusha police said that the arrestees had been remanded in the fraud case and were being investigated further.
