FDB calls applications for Films Awards

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 25The Film Development Board, Nepal (FDB),  has called for applications for the National Film Awards and Special Film Awards.

Issuing a notice on Sunday, the FDB informed that, the awards will be presented to the films released in the last two years on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Board.

In a separate press release issued on Monday, the Board informed that the Nepali films that have passed the censor in the last two years can compete for the Special Film Awards and they need to submit their applications.

 The films released between April 14 2021to April 13, 2023  can apply for the awards, read the statement. 

 According to KL Budhathoki, Spokesperson for the FDB, in order to participate in the National Film Awards, the films must have been screened between April 14, 2021 and April 13, 2023, and in the case of Special Film Awards, the films that have passed the censor during the same period can apply.  

However, indigenous, tribal and different mother tongue films can participate in the National Film Awards even if they have only passed the censor within the above said time, said Budhathoki. 

To participate in the National Awards, the application must be submitted by May 13 and to participate in the Special Film Awards, the applications should be submitted by May 7.

Last year, due to various reasons, awards were not announced. 

However, this year, films from two years will compete together for National Film Awards while six films, three films of a year, will be announced for Special Film Awards. 

The board has also decided to provide Rs. 200,000 to the Special Awards winning films. 

National Film Awards are presented for the best writing (story, screenplay and dialogue), best cinematography, best editing, best actress, best actor, best director and the best film categories.
