Free eye camp held in Balefi

By Our Correspondent,Sindhupalchowk, Apr 24Twenty-five persons from the rural areas in Sindhupalchowk underwent free cataract surgeries in an eye camp organised by Ward No 8 of Balefi Rural Municipality.  In the free-of-cost eye camp, 505 people received eye examinations and medical treatment.

According to Ward Chairman Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, the free cataract surgery was conducted on the senior citizens of the ward who had lost their eyesight for years due to cataracts.

Member of Youth Sports Club Sanil Kafle informed that the eye patients of Balefi Rural Municipality, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Tripurasundari Rural Municipality and Barhabise Municipality underwent surgeries and treatment free of cost. 

Youth Sports Club Lamosanghu, Abhipreran Youth Club Baseri, Newa Dey Daboo Lamosanghu and Shanta Rosa Kasthamandap Lions Club USA and Helping Hand provided special support to the free eye camp. 

A group of medical professionals led by Dr.Sudha Ranabhata performed cataract surgeries in the camp organised by Kirtipur Eye Hospital and Study Center Kirtipur in the financial support of the DAK Foundation on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh.  A cataract patient, Indralal Shrestha, expressed his satisfaction that they did not have to visit Kathmandu and spend Rs. 25,000 to undergo the cataract surgery because of the free eye camp. The free eye camp was conducted on April 22 and April 23.
