241 undergo cataract surgery in Jumla

By Our Correspondent,Jumla, Apr. 22: Chandannath Eye Hospital in Jumla has successfully performed free cataract surgeries on 241 patients in a three-day free eye camp.

The organisers of the free eye camp informed that a total of 823 people had their eyes checked in the camp. District Coordinator of the unified Eye and Ear and Health Programme, Mina Acharya said that the camp was conducted for three days from 18 April, and 93 surgeries were performed on the first day, 116 on the second day and 32 on the third day. 

Chandannath Eye Hospital had organised the free health camp in the financial support of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh’s Unified Eye and Ear Programme in Karnali Province Surkhet, and in the technical support of the Rapti Eye Hospital, Tulsipur, Dang and  Karnali Academy of Health Sciences of Jumla. 

Patients from six municipalities of Jumla and the neighbouring district Kalikot benefitted from the free eye camp led by ophthalmologists Dr. Santosh Subedi and Dr. Vishwaraj Timilsina.

According to Dhan Bahadur Basnet, Chairman of Netra Joyti Sangh, the organisation was happy to provide treatment to the cataract patients in Jumla.

Along with this, free eye camps will also be conducted in Kanakasundari of Sinja area on April 22 and 23, according to Basnet.
