By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 18: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cut electricity supply of Rolpa Cement Industry and Sona Cement Industry.

Hari Pandey, Chief of Lumbini Regional Division Office of Nepal Electricity Authority, said that the electricity line of Rolpa Cement Industry had been cut due to non-payment of regular amount of electricity consumption tariff for the past two years.

Around Rs. 844 million dues are yet to be paid for the electricity tariff by the industry.

He said that the line was cut after the industry operating in Triveni Rural Municipality-3, Budhagaun of Rolpa failed to pay the bills.

"We were forced to cut the line on Sunday after they refused to pay the tariff despite repeated requests," he said. Even though there is a provision to cut line if the tariff is not paid for two months, the industry has not paid tariff for the last two years, he said.

He said that the line will not be reconnected until the arrears are paid.

Similarly, the electricity line of Sona Cement was cut on Saturday.

Pandey said that they have been compelled to cut the line of Sona Cement after it did not pay the dues for a long time.

The dues of Sona Cement reached Rs. 847 million.

Even though there are debatable issues on the dedicated feeders, the industries have not paid the tariff on a regular basis, he said.

“We are also analysing dues status and their payment of Ghorahi Cement and Samrat Cement Industry. If we find that they are not paying tariffs for a long time, we will cut electricity supply,” Pandey told The Rising Nepal.

According to him, the dues of Samrat Cement amount to Rs. 240 million and Ghorahi Cement is Rs. 1.20 billion.
