By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr. 17: Minister for Communication and
Information Technology Rekha Sharma has urged Non-resident Nepalis (NRNs)
around the world to invest in information technology sector in Nepal as it can
be a basis for prosperity of the country.
Minister Sharma made the appeal
addressing virtually the programme 'Connecting Nepal with Global Digital
Economy' organized jointly by Nepali Embassy in the USA and the World Bank on
Sunday evening.
She said that the government
was working proactively to make a conducive environment for investment in IT in
the country as there is a need of development and supply of globally competent
human resources for elevating the country's economy to a new height.
She viewed that the country lagged in development due
to inability to proper mobilization of available resources, and urged the NRNs
to investment their skill, competency as well as capital for the country's
economic development.
Minister Sharma, who is also the government
spokesperson, urged those NRNs who are IT experts and have invested in IT
sector to forward their suggestions on ways to implement globally innovative
and best practices as well as thoughts in IT sector in Nepal for developing nation's
IT sector.
