NAFA plans to work making short-term, long-term plans

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 29: The new working committee of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) has announced its future works in the field of art.  Devendra Kafle Thumkeli, member secretary of the academy, recently presented the concept of future programmes of the academy focusing on protecting, improving and promoting the Nepali fine arts. 

He said that after the new working committee was formed, some conceptual points were put forward for the development of the Nepali art sector.

Stating that the academy will prepare its short-term and long-term plans, he informed that the National Fine Arts Exhibition 2080 will be held on the Republic Day. 

The academy is planning to carry out renovation works, conduct  conservation training, hold a national fine arts conference, conduct a nationwide survey of Nepali fine arts and artists,  publish journals/magazines/books, provide scholarships, and hold the ‘Everest Kathmandu’ Contemporary Art Summit. 

He said that the academy will establish one art centre in each of the seven provinces and conduct regular art training, workshops, seminars, and interactions.

 The academy is aiming to build an Asia-level fine arts museum in Nepal. 

He said that initiatives would be taken to build museums in all seven provinces.  He expressed the idea that the academy would play a role in making Nepali art known at the international level by holding national and international level exhibitions, workshops and seminars.

 “The academy will take initiatives to build an art gallery and a sculpture garden,” he said.

 Stating that fine arts journalism will be promoted effectively, he said that the academy would provide art writing skills, take the initiative to create an artist welfare fund, and distribute artist identity cards in an organised manner.
