blog

By Our Correspondent,Achham, Mar. 28: CPN-UML vice-chairman Bishnu Paudel has stated that his party is not in favour of overthrowing the government and forming a new one.

Addressing a press conference organised by Achham-chapter of Press Chautari, Vice chairman Poudel said the UML was not in favour of toppling the current government.

Stating that the party was currently focused on party’s mission grassroots campaign, Poudel said the party had not paid any attention to   government.

“If we want, we can topple the government within a week, but we are not going to do that now,” he added.

He expressed his confidence that after the grassroots campaign, UML would form the government in all three levels by securing majority in the next periodic election.

“The UML will form the government by securing the majority and will solve the people's problems,” he added.

Paudel, who was former Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, said that the current government had become very weak financially since it came into  power.

Claiming that the current government was more power-centric instead of focusing on people and their needs, Poudel said, “The UML will play a role of watchdog by staying in the opposition.”

Answering the queries of journalists regarding the unification between the UML and CPN (Unified Socialist), he said, “We are not in a process of uniting with any other political party immediately but more focused on inducting new members.”

Along with Poudel, party secretary Lekhraj Bhatt, politburo members Karna Bahadur Thapa, among others, have reached Achham to take part in the mission grassroots campaign.

Poudel informed they had a plan to reach various districts of Sudurpaschim Province during the campaign.
