APF, Sudur Paschim make winning start

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 24: APF Club and Sudur Paschim made a winning start at Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Championship held at T.U International Cricket Stadium, Kathmandu 

on Thursday.

APF registered a convincing 10-wicket victory over Madhesh Province for its first win. Skipper Sita Rana Magar chipped in 45 runs as APF chased the 59-run victory target without losing any wickets in the 7.3 overs.

Magar hit nine boundaries off 36 balls in her not-out 45 runs. Her opening partner Jyoti Pandey hit unbeaten eight runs off 10 balls.

Earlier, a four-wicket haul from Sonu Khadka bundled Madhesh Province out for 58 runs in 19.4 overs.

Skipper Magar also shone with her balling by picking three wickets for APF. Rekha Rawal, Nary Thapa and Indu Barma also dismissed one batter each for the winning side. Sana Praveen was the only two-digit scorer contributing top with 25 runs for Madhesh.

Meanwhile, Sudur Paschim Province registered a 51 runs victory over host Lalitpur Mayor’s XI in the inaugural match. The all-around performance from Sudur Paschim restricted Lalitpur to 86/7 in the allocated 20 overs. Ritu Kanoujiya grabbed two wickets for Sudur Paschim. 

Opener Laxmi Chaudhary scored the highest 38-ball 25 for Lalitpur. Middle-order Helisha Gurung hit 19 runs and opener Kanchan Shrestha smashed 16 runs for the host.

Earlier, Sudur Paschim batted first to smash 137 runs losing three wickets in 20 overs.

Samjhana Khadka chipped in with a half-century knock of 45-ball 51 that included six boundaries.

Opener Rubi Poddar hit four boundaries to add 28 runs off 33 balls. Kabita Joshi remained not out with 28-ball 27. 

Similarly, opener and skipper Bindu Rawal cracked four boundaries in her 14-ball 18 contributions. Kritika Marasini grabbed two wickets and Sony Pakhrin took one wicket for Lalitpur.
