NC, Unified Socialist to give PM confidence vote

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is scheduled to take the vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Monday.

The parliamentary secretariate has made preparations for the vote of confidence after the previous coalition of the CPN (Maoist Centre), the CPN-UML, the Rastriya Swantantra  Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party collapsed with the latter three quitting the government and two of them withdrawing their support to the government formed under Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on December 25. 

Likewise, the Nepali Congress has formally reached a conclusion to join the government led by Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Centre chair Prachanda and cast vote of confidence in the parliament in favour of the PM.

Separate meetings of the party Central Work Execution Committee and Parliamentary Party held on Sunday decided to join the present government. The PP also decided to give the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Prachanda on Monday in the House of Representatives.

The CWEC meeting held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, decided to join the government to contribute to safeguarding the constitution, strengthening the federal democratic republic system and completing the remaining works of the peace process and finding path for the country's holistic development and prosperity.     

After the meeting, party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said the party would pick ministers on the basis of contribution and competency as well as the principles of inclusion and provincial balance.

The meeting also directed the parliamentary party to back the vote of confidence to be tabled by Prime Minister Prachanda in the HoR on Monday expecting that the support would boost the existing political alliance and unity.     

After the party decided to join the government, the NC on Sunday sat in the row of the ruling parties in the parliament. Earlier, NC was in the opposition bench, which was occupied by the CPN-UML and RPP on Sunday. 

The meeting also congratulated newly elected Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, wishing him a successful tenure. It also congratulated the Nepali cricketers for their success in the ICC World Cup League-2 to be qualified for the 2023 one-day Men's World Cup qualifiers. 

Likewise, NC parliamentary party meeting decided to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Prachanda.     

A meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party Sunday decided to do so following a decision of the CWEC meeting, informed chief whip Ramesh Lekhak. 

It also congratulated newly elected President Ramchandra Paudel and Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, wishing them a successful term. Likewise, the meeting congratulated the Nepali cricketers for their success in the ICC World Cup League-2 to be qualified for the 2023 one-day Men's World Cup qualifiers. 

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) has decided to give vote of confidence to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

PM Prachanda is seeking vote of confidence in the parliament on Monday.

Issuing a statement, the CPN (Unified Socialist) informed that the party's central secretariat meeting chaired by party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal on Sunday decided that its lawmakers would vote in favour of PM Prachanda. The meeting also decided to sit in the row of the ruling parties in the parliament. 

Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to promote Beduram Bhusal, the party's general secretary, to the post of the vice chairman in honour of the contribution he had made to the party.

Likewise, leader Ghanashyam Bhusal has been appointed general secretary of the party.

Among the three decisions made by the party, the third was to include all vice chairpersons in the central secretariat.
