Thakuri's late goal sends Satdobato to second spot

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 12: A late goal from Deepak Raj Thakuri helped Satdobato Youth Club to move to the second spot at the ongoing Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division after they thrashed Friends Club by 1-0 at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on Saturday.

The dying-minute goal from Thakuri helped Satdobato secure their spot at the second place with nine points from three matches while with an equal nine points from three matches Church Boys United is at the summit of the league standing based on goal differences. Similarly, Friends Club remained at the 11th place with just one point from three matches they played.

Thakuri put Satdobato into second place of the table after he scored the match winning goal in the dying minutes scoring off the Niraj Chaudhary pass. With his stunning late goal Thakuri was declared the Player of the Match. 

APF, JYC share a point

The 10-man Armed Police Force (APF) held Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) after playing match to a goalless draw at Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on Saturday.

After sharing a point, JYC remained at the third place with seven points from three matches while departmental side APF moved to the sixth place with four points from three matches they played. 

The departmental side were down to 10-man after their center-back Adama Doumbia of Mali brought down Hisub Thapaliya of Jawalakhel in the 69th minute. Firstly, he had received a yellow card for his bad foul, but FIFA referee Prajwol Chhetri showed Doumbia a red card for using rough language to the referee.

APF's skipper Nabin Lama was declared Player of the match for his remarkable performance against Jawalakhel.

Sankata register first winSankata Club registered a first victory at the ongoing Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League after registering a 3-0 comfortable victory over Nepal Police Club (NPC) at Chyasal Stadium, Lalitpur on Saturday.

After the victory over departmental side NPC, Sankata jumped to the fifth place with four points from three matches while Policemen is at the second place from the bottom with zero points from three matches they played.

Ganesh Hamal, Roshan Pahari and Suraj Jyu Thakuri netted one goal apiece to register the maiden victory for Sankata in the league.

After suffering a third defeat in a row, NPC Head Coach Chetan Ghimire was hopeful about making a brilliant comeback with the best performance.

"We suffered a third defeat in a row but my team performance was not bad, we created a lot of goal 

scoring chances but failed to give good finishing, we are under pressure after suffering third defeat in a row but we have 23 more matches to play so I am hopeful about securing 'A' Division status," Coach Ghimire said.

"We have few new faces in the team, and they take time to get a rhythm in the match and we will perform better in the upcoming matches of the league," Coach Ghimire added.

Hamal put Sankata ahead in the 12th minute and Pahari doubled Sankata's tally in the 80th minute and Thakuri sealed the match for the winning side in the 85th minute.
