Kalfe, Syangja, March 10: When there is an ongoing protest on federalism, Kaligandaki
Rural Municipality, known as Karnali of Syangja, is moving forward on the way
of becoming a model place in the country. The Kaligandaki Rural Municipality is
taking a stride in planned development and infrastructure development marking
its way to becoming a noble place in the country.
Kaligandaki
Rural Municipality which was behind in terms of having Black-topped roads,
drinking water, education, and health, has made enormous progress with the support
of federal and provincial governments.
Khim
Bahadur Thapa, ward chair of the Kaligandaki Rural Municipality said that a seven
billion rupees budget was allocated for the rural municipality for seven years. So
far, 5.5 billion has been spent in the last five years on development including the COVID relief.
He said
that the 32-kilometer road has been blacktopped in the last five years, and 42
kilometers road will be pitched in the upcoming year. All the ward offices of
the rural municipality have been connected by blacktopped roads besides ward 2,
which will be made in this current fiscal year.
Rural municipality
has made a stride in terms of education, health, and infrastructures, and is
now focusing on religious touristic places as well. It is making plans in improving
tourism by building DPR of more than a dozen tourist destinations within a
budget of 250 million. The municipality is motivating farmers by planting
dragon fruit, while, the newborn babies are given free health insurance. The
induction oven is given priority over the gas oven in the district.
Ward
chair Thapa said that there is an attraction of community schools over private
schools. Of the total 39 schools, 35 are community schools while four are
private schools.
Sabitra
Koirala, Vice-Chair of the Rural Municipality said that all the developments in
the rural municipality are going without any hindrances.
She said
that with an initiative of one tap in one home, the campaign of insuring clean
drinking water in every household has reached the final phase.
Saying that
federalism has invited tremendous growth in the rural municipality, Prem
Bahadur Maji, a local said that the locals are satisfied with the development work
of the local government.
