Australian Ambassador visits Jumla to celebrate Women’s Day

By Our Correspondent,Jumla, Mar. 9: Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk reached Jumla to celebrate the 113th International Women's Day with the district’s women on Wednesday. 

During her visit, facilitated by the local Himalayan Multipurpose Cooperative in partnership with Australian Aid and the federation of business and professional women BPW Nepal, Ambassador Volk met with women of Patarasi Rural Municipality involved in entrepreneurship, agriculture and forest-based production.

Volk also participated in an interaction where she was briefed about the marketing of agricultural products produced by women. She also expressed her happiness at celebrating her third Women’s Day in Jumla. She also praised the “exemplary” contributions made by Jumla’s women in the cultivation of indigenous crops. She also promised a decade-long support for women-focused projects being implemented in the district.

Head of the District Coordination Committee Gauri Nanda Acharya requested the Ambassador to expand the Australia-supported projects currently being carried out in Patarasi and implement them in other local levels of the district too.

Deputy Mayor of Chandannath Municipality Ramdevi Khadka thanked Volk for taking the time to come talk to the women of Jumla.
