By Our Correspondent,Arghakhanchi, Feb. 28: An 84-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman have tied the nuptial knot in Arghakhanchi. Having sons, daughters and grandchildren, Kulnanda Khanal of Dhurkot-2, and Narayani Paudel, a mother of three sons and two daughters, of Sitganga Municipality-1 Gulmi were living single.
Narayani and Kulnanda had first met in Nepalgunj while both of them had been to their daughters’ home.
“When we started sharing our pains and sorrows in such meetings, we developed a sort of intimacy and finally decided to marry,” said Khanal.
Khanal said that since his wife passed away 15 years ago, he was living single. After that, he had been doing daily activities and household chores on his own.
“All my children and grandchildren are jobholders,” he said. “There were no one at home to look after me. I tied the knot as I felt I had found my match.”
Narayani had a similar tale to share. She was living single after her husband’s demise. “I have three sons and two daughters, but there was no one to take care of me,” said Narayani. “We decided to marry as we were facing similar painful situations.” According to both of them, their daily routines have eased after their marriage in old age. “I know it is not an appropriate age for me to get married, however, I am happy now. I will live happily with the remaining portions of property after dividing it among my three sons,” said Kulnanda.
