Six injured in leopard attack in Banke

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Dec. 15: Tiger and leopard attacks continue to occur in Bardiya National Park areas. In the latest incident on Saturday morning, six locals were injured in the leopard attack in Thakurbaba Municipality of Bardiya district.

According to the District Police Office, Bardiya, the victims included Jhuti Tharu, Biru Tharu, Ganesh Mall, Umesh Thapa, Hari Lamsal and Sudip Tharu. They were attacked near Khailar village in Thakurbaba Municipality-4.

Police reported that Jhuti Tharu was attacked by the leopard while clearing bushes along the Babai River bank. When people rushed to rescue her, the leopard attacked three more individuals.

The Bardiya National Park team was later called to the site to control the leopard. 

However, in the process of capturing the animal, the leopard attacked and injured two other individuals. 

The injured are currently receiving treatment at Thakurbaba Municipal Hospital.
