By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 6: Former Managing Director of Smart Telecom, Sarvesh Joshi, has been arrested on charges of fraud and criminal breach of trust.

A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended Joshi on Monday from Khursanitar in Kathmandu Metropolitan City–2, according to SSP Shiva Kumar Shrestha of the CIB.

Smart Telecom is currently defunct. Its licence was automatically revoked on April 16, 2023, after it failed to renew.

The company’s assets had been taken under control by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority. However, Joshi has been accused of misappropriating those assets, thereby undermining the government’s lawful claim.
