By Our Correspondent ,Nepalgunj, Dec. 16: Traffic lights have been activated at five busy intersections in Nepalgunj district to manage traffic. These traffic lights are expected to regulate the flow of vehicles.
The first traffic light was operated at the highly congested Dhamboji intersection, and the District Traffic Police Office, Banke, is educating drivers and the public about how to use them.
Senior Sub-Inspector Prabin Acharya of the District Traffic Police Office, Banke, said that they were educating drivers and the general public on how to properly use the traffic light.
He said that, in the first phase, the traffic light was installed at Dhamboji, and it would gradually be expanded in Pushpalal, Ganeshman, BP and Ranjha intersections as well.
When operating the traffic lights, at least five traffic police officers are needed at each intersection. Due to manpower crunch and some technical issues, the traffic lights installed in Nepalgunj could not be activated earlier, according to the traffic police office. After almost a year of installation at various intersections, the process of operation has now begun. Previously, some lights had been turned on, but their use was halted due to incomplete preparations.
Currently, the traffic lights are being operated from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and drivers are being educated about their use, Senior Sub-Inspector Acharya said.
