Kathmandu launch of Sharma's Lost Horoscope held

Kathmandu, Feb 21 : The Kathmandu launch of poet Yuyutsu Sharma's new poetry book and Pratik Magazine's special South Asia literature double issue was held in the capital city.

Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk, the poet Sharma himself, director of White Lotus Bookshop Shreejana Bhandary and poet Hari Adhikary launched the book and the magazine published by Nirala Publications, New Delhi. 

Ambassador Volk, who is also a poet, pointed out how Yuyutsu’s poetry takes readers’ breath away with the 

unique images. 

“He has an unwavering capacity to startle with the perfect image,” she said. “His work, like a Bohemian artiste’s, embodies the four ideals of truth, beauty, love and freedom.” 

Renowned internationally as The Himalayan Poet, Sharma talked about the horoscope his grandfather made when he was small and how during the COVID-19 times the memories of the Horoscope he lost in his childhood led him to write the book of humanity’s unmaking during the pandemic. The book also includes poems written during his travels in the United States, Europe and Latin America. 

Poems by Nepai poets Parijat, Shailendra Sakar, Shyamal, Shyam Rimal, Hari Adhikari and Ramesh Chhitiz from Pratik Magazine were read out by Yuyutsu Sharma, Vijay Anand Gurung, Bhuwan Thapalyia and Parbat Lawati respectively. Poet Amar Akaash read out the excerpt of ambassador Volk’s novel included in Pratik Magazine in Nepali translated by Sharma. 

Director Bhandari appreciated the amazing response worldwide to the contemporary Nepalese writing. 

The New Delhi launch of both anthologies will be held at World Book Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, scheduled for February 26, 2023,
