Hikmat Kumar Karki appointed as Province 1 CM

By Gokul Parajuli, Biratnagar, Jan 8: Hikmat Kumar Karki has been appointed as the chief minister of Province 1.

Province Chief Parshuram Khapung appointed UML's leader Karki as the chief minister of Province 1 on Sunday.

Province Chief appointed Karki as the CM as per Article 168 (2) of the constitution. 

Earlier Karki submitted the claim for the chief minister before 4 pm before province chief Khapung with the signatures of 60 provincial assembly members.

Karki garnered the support of UML's 40, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s 13, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party's six and Janata Samajbadi Party's one provincial member.
