Para-Taekwondo players to compete in Riyadh

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 3: Para-Taekwondo players Palesha Goverdhan and Shrijana Ghising are taking part in the Riyadh 2022 World Para Taekwondo Grand-Prix Final (G10) starting from December 8-10 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

Accompanied by Coach Kabiraj Negi Lama, two players will fly to Riyadh on coming Monday. President of Nepal Taekwondo Association Prakash Shumser Rana on Friday bade them farewell at Satdobato. NTA Central committee members Ramchandra Shrestha and Kumar Lama were also present during the farewell ceremony. 

Goverdhan and Ghising will contest in K44 and -57kg weight categories. Both players will also be looking to improve their ranking in the tournament. "As this is also the ranking tournament for the Paralympics. The players moving up to the sixth rank will directly qualify for the Paris Paralympics", Coach Negi informed. Asian Games medallist Goverdhan is currently at number 10 in the world ranking. Her teammate Ghising, who also bagged a medal in Youth Asian Games, is ranked 14th number. 

The best players, coaches and referees will also be awarded during the WT Gala Awards 2022 on December 10.
