Pandey, Kapilvastu, Aug. 27: Students of Suddhodhan Janajivan Secondary School
took out early on Saturday morning for taking part in the exam. They had to
reach the exam center at Janata Secondary School located some 20 kilometers
away from their school. They were to participate in the SEE (secondary education
examination) upgrading test.
However,
they got stuck on the way as the Koili Stream had been swollen due to torrential
rain in the night, and they had no means to cross it.
Fortunately,
a team of the Armed Police Force (APF) was mobilised to ensure that the students take part
in the SEE upgrading exam. On a boat, the team took the questions and answer sheets
for the students to take part in the exam. And the students did take part in
the test albeit it started one and a half hours later than scheduled.
The exam
center was changed to the meeting hall of Kapildham which is located near the stream
where the students had stuck.
Chakrapani
Aryal, mayor of Banganga municipality, officials of the district education
coordination unit of Kapilvastu and Khim Bahadur GC, chief of education, youth
and sports section of the municipality had reached the stream side on knowing
that the SEE examinees had stuck on the way due to flooded stream.
Surya
Bahadur Sen, chief of 28 number battalion of the APF mobilised from APF base
camp in Pipara, informed that the APF team took the exam center chief and other
officials to conduct the exam across the flooded stream on a boat so that the
students took the exam. Altogether 15 personnel for conducting the exam were
taken across the river instead of taking the students to the previously set exam
center as it was easier for taking the exam officials across the river than
bringing the students to the exam center.
Due to
the lack of a bridge, locals of Bhalbad at Banganga Municipality-9 get stuck on
the way every time when it rains heavily in the area because the Koili stream
gets swollen and obstructs mobility on foot.
