By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 1: An art exhibition by
a Nepali artist, Soham’s solo painting exhibition: The colorful lives of
children, has been held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The exhibition, titled The Bright Episode, was held at
the Cemara 6 Galeri Museum from 27 to 29 July 2022.
The 17 oil paintings exhibited in the gallery depict
children’s struggles, resilience and aspiration, as well as their transition
towards a new episode of their lives.
“The characters’ difficult situation and their
resilience in overcoming it and moving forward towards a brighter side of their
lives is the main inspiration in my work. A common theme in all of my paintings
is that they illustrate happiness, joy and bright aspects of children’s lives,”
Soham said about his paintings.
Born in Kathmandu, Soham (Sabin Sainju) has worked for underprivileged children in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia for more than 10 years.
The work’s range of varied colors represents the
children’s happiness while reflecting the diversity of children around the
world who are full of hopes and dreams. Each composition includes dominant hues
like purple, blue, brown, green and orange which encompass a combination of
figurative and abstract lines.
“I am also inspired with the idea that positive
thoughts attract positive life situations, such as success, an abundance of luck
and prosperity, in one’s life which I have reflected in the paintings,” Soham
said in his statement.
Soham pursued his passion for art by earning a
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the Lalit Kala Campus, Tribhuvan University
in Kathmandu, Nepal. He debuted his first solo exhibition at Nepal Art Council
Gallery in Kathmandu, prior to which he showcased his paintings at the Everest
Art Gallery in Kathmandu and participated in a number of group exhibitions in Nepal.
