Kathmandu, Apr. 9: The trailer for Pahad, set to be released simultaneously in Nepal and around the world on April 14 on the occasion of the Nepali New Year, has been released.
Directed by Tulsi Ghimire, the film highlights the issues of unemployment, depopulated hills, and water scarcity.
Ghimire said, “The hills are beautiful places, and we have depicted the story of the hills, which are gradually becoming empty. Although this story is set in the hills, it represents the portrayal of the entire country.”
Artistes, including Dan Krishna Shrestha, Bipin Karki, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Sunil Thapa, Renunath Yogi, Uma Giri, and Arun Chhetri have done the film. Director Ghimire mentioned that he selected the storyline and made the film over a span of several years.
“I felt that this subject needed to be brought to the general audience through the medium of film, which is why I made it. Alongside entertainment, it also carries an important message,” said Ghimire.
“The film conveys messages through its songs about rural beauty, the necessity for young people to leave the village to earn a living, and that the village can be more suitable than the city.”
Director Ghimire has also cast Madan Krishna Shrestha, Shiv Shrestha, and Sunil Thapa in the film.
The cinematography is handled by Pramod Pradhan, who has previously shot films, web series, and telefilms in India. Pradhan has collaborated with Director Ghimire on films such as Anyay, Koseli, Chino, and Dakshina.
Produced under the banner of Bhagyaratna Films, Pahad marks the acting debut of Director Ghimire’s youngest daughter, Panchami Ghimire.
Additionally, Director Ghimire’s elder daughter, Bhawana Ghimire, has taken responsibility as the
production designer.
