By a Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 8: A 'Green Poetry Festival–2083' was held to mark World Environment Day in the capital on Saturday.
In the event jointly organised by Bartaman Kabita, Shabdankur Monthly, Ratoghar Foundation, and Koteshwor Multiple Campus, Bishwo Sigdel of Bartaman Kabita Samuha highlighted the literary and creative activities that the group has been conducting over the years.
"Literary works play a significant role in fostering environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards nature," he stated, emphasising literature as a powerful instrument of social transformation.
During the festival, poets and writers recited poems focused on environmental conservation, nature protection, climate change, human sensitivity, and contemporary social realities. Gyanubakar Poudel, Krishna Bause, Ramgopal Ashutosh, Yashoda Adhikari, Thakur Belbase, Mani Lohoni, Sudhir Khwabi, and an untitled poem by Rajanimila Rajani presented their poems on the environment.
The presented poems explored diverse dimensions of environmental concerns with remarkable depth and sensitivity.
Speaking on behalf of Shabdankur Monthly, Dhir Kumar Shrestha highlighted the significance and objectives of the programme.
As a co-organiser, Koteshwor Multiple Campus honoured all participating poets and writers with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their contributions.
The event added significance to the observance of World Environment Day and also conveyed a positive message to society regarding environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
