Kathmandu, July 21: Artist Dr Ram Kumar Bhaukaji passed away at the age of 72 at his private residence in New Baneshwor this morning. He had specializations in drawing and painting. He lost his battle to prostate cancer, according to his younger brother Bimal Bhaukaji.
Bhaukaji had received a PhD degree in painting from
Russia and had penned many books such as 'Juddhakala Pathsala,' 'Shrasta
Kulmansingh Bhandari' and 'Nepali Kalakarka Samasya' published by the Nepal
Academy of Fine Arts. Likewise, he published numerous articles on art, culture
and history.
Bhaukaji organised the first solo art exhibition at
Sanghutar of his home district Ramechhap on March 7 and 8, 1973.
He also published field-based arts relating to the
Basantapur Durbar, Sundarijal Confinement Home, Tokha Chandeshwori, and
Pashupati Bishwaroop after the Gorkha earthquake. He was unmarried.
His last rites were performed at the Pashupati
Aryaghat today itself. NAFA member secretary Bipin Ghimire, academician Ram
Krishna Bhandari, former lawmaker Dev Shankar Poudel and politician Lok Krishna
Bhattarai were among those who reached the Pashupatinath to bid a final adieu to
