blog

By Our Correspondent Charikot, July 15: A new rock climbing and hiking trail has been opened for national and international travellers in Sokla village, Bhimeshwor Municipality-2, Dolakha.

Sokla Tourism Development Society opened the route hoping to develop the economy of the area through adventure tourism.  Expert international guide Tsering Jangbu Sherpa told The Rising Nepal that the landscape at Khelap, Sokla and Chakpa were very good for mini, advance and high-level rock climbing.

“These areas are also good for cycling and may serve to attract foreign tourists,” Sherpa said. “We can develop five routes to promote rock climbing here.”

Sherpa’s personal study has also shown the feasibility of constructing a zip line and bungee jump platform. He also said that the village could be a hub for agro-tourism.

Guides Thir Bahadur Khadka and Shiva Khadka also tested the possibility of rock climbing there and Thir Bahadur expressed confidence that it would bring in many tourists.

A team of 15 French social workers also hiked the trail and promised to promote it among their countrymen through photos, videos and social media.
