By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 14: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dilendra Prasad Badu has said that the government is ready to formulate necessary policy for the operation of gold and silver business.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FENEGOSIDA) at the Ministry Wednesday, Minister Badu said that the government was committed to ensure the rights of the general consumers and businessmen by formulating necessary policies.
The delegation led by its president Manik Ratna Shakya met Minister Badu and briefed about the problems of the business.
Minister Badu also directed the concerned bodies to take prompt initiative on behalf of the Ministry for the formulation of the gold and silver trading Act sought by the gold and silver traders.
In the meeting, FENEGOSIDA President Shakya informed Minister Badu about various problems in the field of gold and silver business, said FENEGOSIDA spokesperson Manoj Kumar Shah.
According to him, issues related to supply of raw materials of gold and silver, pricing process of gold and silver, management of goldsmiths, business security and other issues were discussed during the meeting.
Earlier, gold and silver traders had urged the Department of Customs to facilitate in the issue that the customs office at the Tribhuvan International Airport is unnecessarily strict when people come to Nepal wearing Nepali original jewellery.
The delegation had met and apprised Director General of the Customs Department Kamal Prasad Bhattarai on Tuesday and requested for customs facilitation at the TIA.
