President, PM extend Eid greetings

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 10: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has wished for the happiness, peace and prosperity of all Nepali Muslims on the occasion of Bakar Eid on Sunday.

“Unity among diversity is the strength of our nation,” a statement issued by the President’s Office read. “I am confident that such festivals will enhance the spirit of national unity, mutual harmony and tolerance.”

President Bhandari hoped this Eid would inspire Nepalis to build a progressive and civilised society by preserving, promoting and developing their traditions and culture.

Meanwhile, according to RSS, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has extended best wishes to the entire Islam community on the occasion of the Ed al-Adha (Bakar Eid). Vice President Pun wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepalis and Muslim community. Nepal is a country rich in ethnic, lingual, cultural and religious diversity, he reminded, adding that the cultural diversity and festivals foster national unity and harmony.

Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes to all Nepali Muslim sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad. PM Deuba wished that the festival would help conserve traditions and cultural values, thereby building a cultured society. He believed that the festival would further promote harmony, fraternity and tolerance, thereby contributing to national unity.
