Training launched for women's economic empowerment

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 9: Nepal Women Chamber under the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has launched an economic empowerment programme for women.

The Nepal Women Chamber has organised 'skill development training' in various fields to increase women's participation in the economic sector by developing entrepreneurship and creating jobs.

In the first phase, the training will be provided to women in six different fields, including cooking, beautician, photography, candle crafting and fabric painting.

The Women Chamber has said that the training is being provided to women of various areas.

Inaugurating the training, President of NCC Rajendra Malla said that participation of women in economic activities should be increased by developing their entrepreneurship skills. 

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has given high priority to the issue of women's empowerment, said Malla.

 According to Malla, the Chamber will assist in the marketing of products produced by women.

Urmila Shrestha, vice-president of NCC and president of the Women Chamber, said that the training is conducted for the financial assurance of women.

Shrestha said training is important to increase business and create employment.  She said that training is being provided to women as per the market demand. Secretary of the Women Chamber Lima Adhikari said that the women would be given training for at least 15 days.
