blog

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT Humla, July 7: Construction of metalled road, under market management project, has started at Simkot Bazaar, district headquarters of Humla.

Narendra Rawat of Simkot Rural Municipality-5 said that the construction was being carried out from the Sunvalley Hotel area. He added that the sewage is also being managed alongside the construction.

Palu Rawat, local representative of Bania Construction Services, who was given the responsibility of the project, said that the construction work was going on from 6 am to 7 pm. Of the 200 meter of road to be pitched in the current fiscal year, work on more than 25 metre has been completed, he added.

According to him, the construction will be completed in 10 days as all the construction materials have arrived at the project site. He added 20 workers had been deployed at the construction site and a mixture machine was used to carry the construction work. The concretisation of the six- and-a-half-metre wide road is in full swing. Preparations for working at night are also being made, he said.

Saghan Urban Development Office Jumla had signed an agreement with the construction company to complete the project at a cost of Rs. 18.5 million. Although the agreement was signed in April, the construction work was halted due to problems in transporting cement and rods by air.  The construction work at the main roads of the market is set to be started from coming fiscal year. The Road Infrastructure Development Office has already completed 140-metre road of the Sun Valley area and 300 metre of lower market area.
